Four persons suspected
to be cultists yesterday raped an 18-year-old-girl along the Gwegwe area
of Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa State at gunpoint.
According to report, the
victim, identified as Blessing Richards, was attacked at about 11pm
while returning from a visit to a friend in the area.
LEADERSHIP gathered that
the suspected rapists gagged their victim and dragged her into a lonely
building in the area. She was later abandoned after the dastardly act.
Confirming the
development, the Police Public Relations Officer, Asinim Butswat, said
the victim identified one of the suspected rapists and reported to the
area division of the police.
“We
have arrested one Godfrey Igbare, who was identified as being one of
the rapists. We are on the trail of others involved in the criminal
act,” he said.
